First Site Selection Meeting Marks the Next Step for the MN EMS Memorial
March 8th, 2026
One year ago today we shared an important update. The MN State EMS LODD Memorial Foundation application had been deemed complete by the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board. After years of writing, revising, and working through the state process, the project had finally cleared a major hurdle.
A year later, it is worth taking a moment to reflect.
The past twelve months have been busy. Our board has continued to grow as supporters stepped forward to help move the mission forward. Outreach efforts expanded across the state. Our first in person Fundraiser was held. Conversations were started with organizations and individuals who believe, as we do, that those lost in the line of duty deserve to be remembered.
Some of the work has been visible. Much of it has happened quietly behind the scenes. That is often how projects like this move forward.
This past week brought another meaningful step. On March 5th, Foundation CEO Adam H met with representatives from the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board for the first formal site selection meeting for the MN EMS Memorial project on the Capitol grounds. This will be a long process with several meetings over several months. However, It marks the beginning of the phase where the vision starts to turn into something tangible.
There is still work ahead, as we still need to raise the funds. Memorials are not built overnight nor for free, and this one will be no exception. With your help it will become a reality.
But the progress made over the last year would not have happened without the volunteers, supporters, and members of the EMS community who continue to stand behind this effort.
The mission remains unchanged.
